Hello, my name is Philip
Pixel Pusher meets Problem Solver™
Everyone has a story, and everyone is interesting. You just have to be willing to listen.
This has become a guiding principle for me. So let me tell you a little about myself. I am a digital designer and creative from West Columbia, SC. I strive to create tasteful, well-thought-out design solutions that people will enjoy. My design tastes lean toward simplicity and luxury, combined with photorealism and a vintage aesthetic (with an occasional humorous flair). I relish a chance to conduct self-guided research. I’ve always loved history and seek to understand how it affects life in the present. I'm the type of person who likes to know a little about a lot of things. I think this is important as a designer because it allows us to pique the interest of the casual viewer and the expert alike. One of the most exciting things about being a designer is showing others your work. Especially when it takes just a little explaining or closer inspection. I can’t remember the exact quote, but it went like “Design is like a good joke, and we are the comedians.”

☝︎You might be wondering about the image above. Somehow, I think it sums up my experience as a designer so far. I made it in 5th grade. It was during a difficult time in my life. I have never been super artistic (or photogenic), and my art teacher had us take photos and print them out. Then trace our faces into a clay slab, fire it, and paint. She encouraged us to go "wild" with the colors. Years later it fell and shattered into pieces. I tried my best to put it back together with resin and tape. It's pretty solid now and somehow uglier than before. But it's still kicking, it's still whole. (This isn't just about the clay.)
